Zlatko

Title: Voivode
Active from: 1878
Active until: 1879
Period: Ottoman rule

Zlatko Voyvoda was a Bulgarian hajduk and revolutionary active in the Kresna–Razlog Uprising of 1878–1879. Born in Palat in the Maleshevo region, he operated near Padesh in the Gorna Dzhumaya region in April 1878, commanding about thirty Bulgarians from the interior of Macedonia.

In June that year, before the uprising, Zlatko and three companions went to Rila Monastery, a gathering point for leading commanders, militia veterans and volunteers. To express solidarity with the forthcoming uprising, they donated 137 grosh to the monastery treasury. Such donations were customary during preparations, enabling commanders and freedom fighters to support the struggle with the means available to them.

During the uprising in October 1878, he operated in Karshiyaka on the right bank of the Struma. Taking advantage of Ottoman troops' commitments elsewhere, he displayed courage and strategic skill in capturing the Bulgarian villages of Ribnitsa, Gorema, Starchevo, Palat and others.

On 20 December 1878, he was appointed captain and judge over all insurgent villages in Karshiyaka, based at Tsaparevo. This gave him important judicial, administrative and military responsibilities under regulations that have not survived.

Internal disputes arose during the uprising, and village notables and the commander Torolinko conspired against Zlatko and Dimitar Popgeorgiev.

Zlatko was the father of Doncho Zlatkov, the Supreme Macedonian-Adrianople Committee's commander in the Petrich region.
