Hristo Karaminkov, also called Bunito, was a Bulgarian national revolutionary who participated in numerous uprisings and events in Bulgarian history. Born in 1846 in the town of Tarnovo, he joined the national revolutionary struggles in his youth.
Hristo Karaminkov was a member of the Tarnovo Local Revolutionary Committee of the Internal Revolutionary Organisation. After the uprising failed, he emigrated to Romania, where he continued his revolutionary activities.
Hristo Karaminkov became a member of the Giurgiu Revolutionary Committee. On returning to Bulgaria, he became assistant revolutionary organiser of the First Tarnovo Revolutionary District, working with its chief organiser Stefan Stambolov. During the April Uprising in 1876, he served in Father Hariton and Bacho Kiro's detachment as deputy voivode and a member of its Military Council. He displayed exceptional bravery in the Battle of Dryanovo Monastery and survived the destruction of the detachment.
During the Russo-Turkish War (1877 – 1878), Hristo Karaminkov volunteered, assisting the Russian command through reconnaissance and the provision of strategic intelligence. He organised a group of Bulgarian scouts and attempted to blow up an Ottoman monitor on the Danube River.
After Bulgaria's Liberation in 1878, Hristo Karaminkov returned to his native Tarnovo, where he engaged in trade. He was elected a district councillor and member of parliament, continuing to serve society.
