The Battle of Slivnitsa

The Battle of Slivnitsa
Immediately after the outbreak of the Serbo-Bulgarian War, a defensive position was established around Slivnitsa. The battle began on 5 November, with the Serbian side enjoying more than a two-to-one superiority in troops and equipment. An early-morning attack on the Bulgarian right flank failed. The ensuing Bulgarian counterattack stunned the enemy, which undertook no further offensive action that day. On 6 November, a serious threat emerged on the Bulgarian left flank from two Serbian divisions, but Bulgarian countermeasures averted it. On 7 November, troops on the left sector defeated the opposing Serbian forces around Gurgulyat. A Serbian attack on the right flank was repelled and followed by a Bulgarian counterattack. Bulgarian units in the central sector also went on the offensive.
Following the Bulgarian victory at Slivnitsa, Serbian troops retreated in every direction.
