The Tikveš Uprising

Year: 1913

During the First Balkan War, Serbian and Greek forces occupied most of Macedonia. In 1913, IMARO resumed its activities. The prospect of war in these territories prompted the population to prepare for serious fighting. Revolutionary detachments and the local militia were involved. The Tikveš Uprising broke out on 19 June 1913, at the beginning of the Second Balkan War. Serbian troops were defeated near Kavadarci, and the town was captured by Bulgarian detachments.

Insurgent activity continued even after Bulgaria's defeat in the Second Balkan War.
