Cometopulus Taridin
Taridin
Title: Cometopulus
Accession: 852
End of rule: 889
Information about Komit Taridin is very scarce. He is known to have governed the Bregalnica region during Prince Boris I's reign. He is mentioned in one of the old accounts referring to komits and their provinces: Archbishop Theophylact of Ohrid's 11th–12th-century account of the Fifteen Martyrs of Tiberiopolis. Theophylact describes how Taridin, a komit from Bulgaria, transferred the relics of three saints on his ruler Boris I's orders to the church in the centre of his province, Bregalnica. This suggests that administrative and ecclesiastical organisation were closely connected in the state of Prince Boris and his successors, with komits responsible for duties such as building schools for priests and transferring holy relics.
