Stoyan Popov Gushle was a revolutionary and hajduk.
Stoyan Gushle was born in 1848 in the village of Kosinets, then part of the Ottoman Empire. He received no formal education and at an early age joined the bandits known as haramii. In 1877, during the Russo-Turkish War, he joined the detachment of Dimitar Dalyan and Stefo Voivode, taking part in fighting against the Turks in the Enisher, Bitola and Kostur regions. After the end of the war in the winter of 1878, he spent time in Bulgaria, and in early 1879 he travelled through the Maleshevo and Voden regions with Stefo Voivode's detachment.
From 1883 to 1888, he led his own detachment in the Prilep, Tikvesh and Voden regions. In 1893, he was accused of the murders of Stefan Stambolov and the Aromanian Tiko Steryo and was imprisoned in the Black Mosque. One of his detachment members, Stoyan Nikolov, was killed in 1889 in the village of Klinovo on the orders of the Greek metropolitan of Bitola.
Other members of the Gushlev family included Lazar Atanasov Gushlev, who was sent by the Supreme Macedonian-Adrianople Committee in 1902 as voivode of a detachment in the Gevgelija region, and Hristo Gushlev, a voivode of the Internal Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Committee.
