Kan Sevar

Kan Sevar
Sevar
Khan Sevar was a Bulgarian ruler who governed Bulgaria from 738 to 753. He came from the ruling dynasty and was a great-grandson of Khan Asparuh. He is listed as the fourth Bulgarian ruler in the Nominalia of the Bulgarian Khans.
According to historians, Khan Sevar was the last ruler of the Dulo dynasty.
There are no confirmed clashes with the Byzantine Empire during his 15-year reign.
Information about Khan Sevar comes mainly from the Nominalia of the Bulgarian Khans, which provides the only authentic information about him.
Two hypotheses explain why Sevar was the last ruler of the Dulo dynasty.
According to the first, he left no heir.
The second proposes that power passed to another dynasty following a dynastic coup.
With dynastic events remaining hypothetical and no clear conflicts with the Byzantine Empire, Khan Sevar’s reign remains relatively little known in Bulgarian history. Nevertheless, he remains an important figure as the last representative of the Dulo dynasty.
