Revolutionary Sava Silov

Sava Silov

Active from: 1862
Active until: 1868
Period: Ottoman rule

Sava Genchov Silov was a Bulgarian revolutionary whose actions were connected with the struggle to liberate the Bulgarian people from Ottoman rule.

Although information about him is limited, it is known that Silov belonged to Hadzhi Dimitar and Stefan Karadzha's detachment. He was captured by the Turks during the Battle of Kapladere, arrested and brought to trial.

His fate took a tragic turn: he was sentenced to death in Ruse and hanged in Stara Zagora on 19 June 1868.

As a remembrance and recognition of his sacrifice and participation in the struggle for freedom, the only surviving information about Sava Silov is that a street in Stara Zagora was named in his honour. This act symbolises the enduring remembrance of his role in Bulgarian history.
