Radi Ivanov Kolesov was an important figure in the Bulgarian National Revival. During his short life he distinguished himself through numerous activities that advanced culture and education in Yambol and the country as a whole. One of his significant achievements was establishing Yambol's first community cultural centre, which later became the home of the professional Nevena Kokanova Drama Theatre. His active participation in the events of Dyado Nikola's Uprising should also be mentioned, as he sought freedom and liberation for the Bulgarian people from Ottoman rule. His death at a young age left a lasting mark on Bulgarian history, and today his memory is honoured in the courtyard of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Yambol's Kargona neighbourhood.
