Luka Braykov Shushulov was born around 1854 in Koprivshtitsa and is known as a participant in the April Uprising of 1876. An innkeeper by profession, he joined the Revolutionary Committee on 7 February 1876, after the revolutionary organiser Petar Vankov's second visit to the village. He swore to obey the committee's instructions and contributed twelve Turkish liras to its treasury for the purchase of weapons.
On the first day of the uprising, 20 April, Shushulov was appointed to lead ten men under Yove Steflekov's command to defend the village against a possible attack from Klisura. He was then assigned to a unit guarding the entrances to Dr Spas Ivanov's pharmacy, where the Revolutionary Committee held meetings. He also served as clerk of the insurgents' storehouse.
After the uprising ended and the Turkish authorities regained control of the village, Shushulov went into hiding, avoiding arrest, torture and trial. He died in Plovdiv after 1908.
