Hajduk Lalush

Lalush Voyvoda was a Bulgarian hajduk active around Mount Kozhuh in the sixteenth century.

He was born in a village near Štip in the Kriva Lakavica valley, now in North Macedonia. The son of Chavdar Voyvoda's sister, he became standard-bearer in his uncle's band. According to traditions preserved in folk songs, the pasha of Sofia captured Chavdar, but Lalush forced him to release his uncle.
