Kan Kormisosh

During Khan Kormisosh’s reign, the instability affecting the rule of the Bulgarian khans in the second half of the 8th century continued. Political infighting within the Bulgarian leadership was further complicated by natural conditions. The winter of 763–764 was unusually cold, causing crops, livestock and people to freeze and leading to difficult years of survival for the Bulgarian population. Historical sources indicate that even the Black Sea and inland rivers froze. At the same time, the Byzantine Empire intensified its policy in the Balkan Peninsula.
