Kormesiy
Title: Kan
Accession: 721
End of rule: 738
Kormesiy was the third ruler of the First Bulgarian Empire. He belonged to the Dulo clan. He ruled for 28 years. He is mentioned in several sources. One is the Nominalia of the Bulgarian Khans, although his name has been erased there. Other mentions occur in the Western chronicles of Sigebert, a monk of Gembloux Abbey, and in the chronicles of the monk Alberic. Both chronicles explicitly identify him as the third ruler of the Bulgarians. The Byzantine chronicler Theophanes mentions Kormesiy as an assistant to Tervel as early as the conclusion of the peace treaty with Byzantium in 716. He even participated in the war against the Arabs in 717–718, commanding part of the army.
