Dimitar Kostadinov, known as Karadzha Dimitar, was a Bulgarian hajduk born in Krushevo around 1842–1843. He was orphaned at the age of one when Turks killed his parents, while his older brother fled to Wallachia. Relatives sent Dimitar to Constantinople, where he apprenticed in a grocery shop and became fluent in Turkish and Greek.
At twenty, he returned to Macedonia and lived as a hajduk for nearly three years. He then crossed the Danube and joined Filip Totyu's band, followed by Panayot Hitov's, taking part in the long march through the Balkan Mountains. In autumn 1867, he passed through Serbia and settled again in Wallachia, where he learned Romanian.
In 1877, he volunteered for the Bulgarian militia and fought in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878.
After Bulgaria's Liberation, he settled in Alfatar.
He died in 1900.
