Indzhe Marinko
Marin Ivanov Rusinov, known as Indzhe Marinko, was a Bulgarian hajduk born between 1840 and 1842 who became a member of Beyko Voivode’s detachment. He came from the village of Dragomir. He became a hajduk after the Turks killed three of his brothers.
He subsequently led a small detachment that defended the inhabitants of villages including Topoli Dol, Krastava, Blatnitsa, Tsalapitsa, Golyamo Konare and Krastovo. Although the qadi of Plovdiv had released him, the Turks captured him and hanged him in Plovdiv for his earlier offences.
The voivode’s mother came from the village of Kamenitsa. Marinko is described as an exceptionally agile, slender and handsome man. Because of his appearance and resemblance to Indzhe Voivode, he was called Indzheto. The killing of a Turk and the ensuing pursuit, which ended in his hanging, became the subject of various legends and songs, one of which was passed down by a descendant of Indzhe Marinko Voivode.
