Gone Beginin
Gone (Gono) Beginin was a hajduk, voivode and revolutionary. He was one of the voivodes of IMARO.
He was born in 1867 in the town of Kukush, which was part of the Ottoman Empire at the time of his birth and is now Kilkis in Greece. He received an elementary education and later worked as a baker in Thessaloniki. In 1896, he joined the hajduk detachment of Georgi Kurtev – Latrovaliyata in the Poroy region, which was subordinate to the Supreme Committee. Later, he joined the detachment of Vase Shuperliyata and helped transport weapons for the Maleshevo region. He was recruited into the Internal Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organisation, where he became a member of Ivancho Karasuliyata's detachment, before leading his own four-man detachment in the Kukush region and working with Gotse Delchev.
From 1901 to 1903, he was active in the detachments of Hristo Chernopeev and Krastyo Asenov, secretly competing with the latter for leadership among the detachment members. At the beginning of the Ilinden Uprising, Beginin organised a plot to murder Krastyo Asenov. At the end of the uprising, he was captured in Sofia and sentenced to death, but the sentence was not carried out thanks to Asenov's brother.
During the Balkan War in 1912, Gone Beginin volunteered for the Macedonian-Adrianople Volunteer Corps and served in Gotse Bardarov's detachment, and later in the 2nd Company of the 13th Kukush Battalion.
