Dimitar Ivanov Milev was a Bulgarian officer and revolutionary born on 15 February 1882 in Ohrid. He completed the fifth form at the secondary school in his native town and graduated from the Military School in Sofia in 1903, after which he served as a second lieutenant in the 4th Artillery Regiment.
After leaving the army, Dimitar Milev joined the activities of the Supreme Macedonian Committee. In the spring of 1903 he left for Macedonia with Sofroniy Stoyanov's detachment and participated in the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising. In the Serres Revolutionary District he became a platoon commander of the Ohrid detachment in Alexander Protogerov's unit. On 28 April 1903 he died in battle with the Turkish army while attempting to carry the wounded Boris Sugarev from the battlefield.
After his son's death, Dimitar Milev's father, the priest Ivan Milev, was sent by the Bulgarian Exarchate to preach in the village of Kalibito, Bulgaria. Dimitar Milev's sacrifice and role in historic events made him an important symbol of the struggle for the freedom of the Macedonian Bulgarians in the early twentieth century.
