Boyko Stoyanov Tolinov, also known as Boyko the Shopkeeper, was a Bulgarian revolutionary born in Koprivshtitsa village in 1852. He came from a priest's family, and his grandfather had been a monk in a monastery on Mount Athos.
At twenty-two, Tolinov went to Romania, where he encountered revolutionary ideas and joined the cause of Bulgarian freedom. Returning to Koprivshtitsa, he actively supported and assisted revolutionary figures such as Neofit Rilski, Nayden Gerov and Nayden Popstoyanov.
At a fateful moment in 1876, Tolinov volunteered for Hristo Botev's detachment. While travelling with it through various Bulgarian settlements and regions, he fought in the battle near Banitsa village and died from a Circassian bullet at Milin Kamak on 18 May 1876, aged only twenty-four.
The grave of Boyko Tolinov, who died as part of the revolutionary effort for the Bulgarian people's freedom, remains unknown to posterity.
