Arseniy, or Arso, Martinov was a Bulgarian revolutionary born in Veles or the surrounding region in Macedonia in 1843. He completed secondary school in Belgrade and served in the Second Bulgarian Legion. On learning that detachments were being prepared in Wallachia to enter Bulgaria, he went to Romania and joined Hadzhi Dimitar and Stefan Karadzha's detachment.

Arseniy Martinov died in the detachment's first battle near Karaisen village, alongside his friend Aleksandar Vasilev. During the battle, the two distinguished themselves through fierce fighting and great risk, displaying such determination that even Hadzhi Dimitar warned them not to expose themselves so much. Nevertheless, fired by anger and inspiration, they continued fighting furiously despite the extreme dangers posed by the enemy.
