Hajduk Arnaut Stoyan

Arnaut Stoyan, born around 1800 in Macedonia, was a Bulgarian hajduk who participated in the hajduk struggle during the 1830s. 

Arnaut Stoyan became involved in hajduk activities in the third decade of the nineteenth century, when revolutionary sentiment in the Bulgarian lands was growing. This period was marked by substantial efforts by Bulgarian hajduks to establish and maintain networks of sympathisers and groups opposing Turkish rule. The name and activities of Arnaut Stoyan, like those of many hajduks who resisted during this period, are often shrouded in legends and oral traditions passed down through the generations.
