Space food

Bulgaria was the third country, after Russia and the United States, to begin producing space food. The menu originally developed in 1979 was used in the Shipka project and subsequently on missions until 1989. After that year, production stopped for a time, until the establishment of Antarta, a company that continues to produce space food today. The food is made using the original technology, adapted to contemporary preferences and current conditions and restrictions governing food suitable for consumption in space. These include all the necessary technological processes,
the needs of astronauts in space, the physiological, physical and psychological changes and strains they experience, and other considerations.
Another advantage of Bulgarian space food is that it is tasty and nutritious. The menus include a wide range of traditional Bulgarian dishes and soups, as well as freeze-dried fruit, bars and healthy drinks.
