Preslav painted ceramics
One of the remarkable artistic achievements of the Golden Age under Tsar Simeon was Preslav painted ceramics. Several workshops have been discovered in the capital, Preslav, situated within monastic complexes. This type of ceramic was used mainly to decorate secular and ecclesiastical buildings: for flooring, facing walls and stone cornices, and inlaying stone columns and capitals. The most common designs depicted on the tiles were stylised plant motifs and various geometric forms.
