The Ovche Pole Operation
Year: 1915
Location: Vranje–Berovo, Serbia
Period: Third Bulgarian State
Ruler: Ferdinand
The Ovche Pole Operation took place from 14 October to 15 November 1915. Its aim was to prevent Serbian forces from joining the Entente troops in Thessaloniki. The Second Bulgarian Army, comprising units of the 13th Balkan Division, 7th Rila Division and Cavalry Division, with 220 guns, was tasked with defeating Serbian forces in Macedonia and advancing to the Albanian and Greek borders. The main attack was directed towards Kumanovo, where the 13th and 7th Divisions easily defeated the Serbian army. On the third day, the Cavalry Division also advanced, repelling Serbian counterattacks and reaching Veles and the Vardar's banks. This success achieved the operation's objective.
The battle ended in a Bulgarian victory.
