The Battle of Berzitia
Year: 774
Location: Macedonia
Ruler: Telerig
In 774, Khan Telerig decided to support the Berziti tribe of Macedonia in its attempt to win autonomy from Byzantine rule. The battle took place in 774 in Berzitia, North Macedonia, but involved no substantial military action. In response, Emperor Constantine V launched another campaign against Bulgaria, but a storm devastated his fleet near Mesembria, modern Nessebar.
Emperor Constantine V Kopronymos's nine campaigns against Bulgaria remained unfinished because of his sudden death.
