Fourth Battle of Serres
Year: 1383
Location: Serres, Aegean Macedonia, Greece
Period: Second Bulgarian Empire
Ruler: Ivan Shishman
In 1371, Serres became the capital of the Principality of Serres, which was ruled by Empress Helena of Bulgaria. The Ottoman advance against Bulgaria, which had already conquered the lands of Thrace, the Rhodope Mountains and Sofia, also passed through it.
On 19 September 1383, after a prolonged siege, Serres was captured by the Ottomans, who continued their advance.
