Fighting at Dryanovo Monastery

Year: 1876
Location: Dryanovo Monastery
Period: Ottoman rule

Bratsigovo was surrounded by about 18,000 men. Artillery joined the attacks against Father Hariton's band, which was defending Dryanovo Monastery. The bombardment set the monastery on fire.

On 7/19 May 1876, the surviving members of Father Hariton's band attempted to break through the cordon around Dryanovo Monastery. Petar Parmakov was killed, and only 47 men, including Bacho Kiro, managed to escape.
