Bulgarian–Byzantine War, 855
Year: 855
Location: Thrace and the Black Sea Coast
Ruler: Boris I
The year after Boris I's unsuccessful campaign against the German Kingdom ended, the Byzantine emperor Michael III began a war against Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian troops could not halt the Byzantine armies, which continued their advance. They recovered territories previously conquered by Bulgaria: Zagore, lands along the Black Sea coast, Nesebar, Plovdiv and extensive areas of Thrace.
