Battle of Rusion

Year: 1206
Location: Rusion, or Keşan, Turkey

The Battle of Rusion was an engagement in the Bulgarian–Latin wars. In mid-January 1206, the Bulgarian army advanced south. One part of the army besieged Edirne, while the other, commanded by Kaloyan, headed towards Rusion.

Many of the knights were killed. All the knights' commanders lost their lives in the battle. Hundreds of sergeants and auxiliary soldiers were killed or captured. The survivors escaped from the town on the night of 31 January–1 February and took refuge in the nearby fortress of Rodosto.
