Battle of Mount Kostadin

Year: 1912
Location: Mount Kostadin, Satovcha village, Gotse Delchev
Ruler: Ferdinand

The Battle of Mount Kostadin, also known as the "Shipka of the Rhodopes", was part of the Balkan War of 1912. It took place on 15 October 1912 between the Rhodope Detachment, comprising the 1st and 3rd Brigades of the 2nd Thracian Infantry Division, and the Ottoman Struma Corps. Mount Kostadin lies northeast of Nevrokop, now called Gotse Delchev. Capturing it was therefore crucial to the liberation of Gotse Delchev.

The Bulgarian detachment defeated the Turkish forces, but Major Topalov was shot and died.
