Battle of Kalinovo
Year: 1913
Location: Kalinovo, Greece
Period: Third Bulgarian State
Ruler: Ferdinand
Bulgarian and Greek troops fought in this battle during the Second Balkan War. After a clash near Orehovo between units of the Bulgarian army's 3rd Brigade of the 3rd Division and the Greek 10th Division, the Bulgarian units withdrew towards Kalinovo village. To check the Greek advance, the Bulgarian forces at Kalinovo, including the 41st Infantry Regiment with two batteries of non-quick-firing guns, successfully blocked the Greek route around the Bulgarian positions near Kukush. They did so through an effective defence in the Kalinovo Gorge, which prevented the Greek division from advancing.
The battle ended in victory for Bulgaria. The Bulgarian soldiers managed to hold their positions in the area.
