Kan Sandilch

Sandilch was ruler of the Utigur Bulgars. The Byzantine Empire bribed him to attack his kinsmen, the Kutrigur Bulgars, while their main forces were occupied with raids on Byzantine territory in the Balkans. The Utigurs defeated the Kutrigurs and freed many Byzantine captives, who returned to their homes. After this victory, some of the defeated Kutrigurs received permission from the Byzantine emperor to settle in Thrace.
