Rizo Atanasov was a Bulgarian revolutionary and an active member of the Supreme Macedonian-Adrianople Committee.
He participated in the armed-detachment campaign of 1895 as a detachment voivode. After 1902, Atanasov became the Supreme Committee's voivode for Melnik. On 18 September 1902, at the Supreme Committee's meeting in Gradevo, he was appointed to the Military Revolutionary Council alongside Lieutenant Colonel Stefan Nikolov, Midshipman Todor Saev, Lieutenant Yordan Stoyanov, Doncho Zlatkov and Nikola Lefterov.
Atanasov participated in the Gorna Dzhumaya Uprising. Arms trafficking and the circumstances surrounding the uprising prompted a Turkish incursion. In April 1906, he died alongside Colonel Anastas Yankov in a battle near Vlahi village.
