Dacho Yotov

Active from: 1904
Active until: 1911

Dacho Yotov was a Bulgarian revolutionary and voivode of the Internal Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organisation (IMARO). Born in Trastenik village in the Teteven region, he joined IMARO and participated in the Ilinden–Preobrazhenie Uprising.

In 1904, he belonged to Stefan Dimitrov's detachment in the Veles region. He subsequently formed his own detachment, which fought Serbian detachments there. His activities in the Bistritsa mountains were important in the struggle against Serbian propaganda and presence.

After the Young Turk Revolution, Yotov emerged from clandestine activity and even took part in the march on Constantinople. Later, however, he began cooperating with the Young Turk authorities and participated in the disarmament campaign in the Veles region.

This change of position cost him the support of part of the local population. As a result, on 25 November 1911, the IMARO voivode Mircho Atanasov executed Yotov in Voynitsa. Thus ended the life of this well-known revolutionary, whose activities played an important role in the struggle to liberate the Macedonian and Adrianople Bulgarians from Ottoman and Serbian rule.
