Aleksandar Iliev, known by the pseudonym Chaushat, was a Bulgarian revolutionary and voivode of the Internal Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organisation (IMARO). He was born on 15 October 1879 in Vratsa. After graduating from high school in Sofia, he joined IMARO's activities. During this period he met Gotse Delchev, and a friendship developed between them. After Iliev finished high school in 1898, Gotse Delchev arranged his appointment as a teacher in the village of Dedino in the Radovish region.

In 1901 the authorities discovered his revolutionary activities, forcing him to go underground and join Hristo Chernopeev's detachment. He took part in the kidnapping of the American missionary known as the Miss Stone Affair. He was then appointed voivode for the Petrich district.

In the Petrich region, the young voivode clashed with Supremist detachments and died in December 1901, killed by the Petrich Supremist voivode Doncho Zlatkov. According to some sources, Alekso Poroyliyata smashed his head with a rifle butt.
