Bulgaria’s three smallest towns

Bulgaria’s three smallest towns
In Bulgaria, much of the population is concentrated in larger cities, although there are fewer towns and cities than villages. In contrast to this general pattern, the country’s smallest towns are even smaller than some villages.
For example, Bulgaria’s smallest town, Melnik, has a population of just 171, making it not merely one of the country’s smallest towns but the smallest Bulgarian town. This number places Melnik among Bulgaria’s three smallest towns. Second in the ranking is another small town, Madzharovo in Haskovo Province, whose recorded population of 567 is roughly three times that of Melnik.
Interestingly, even the old capital of Danubian Bulgaria, once splendid and wealthy, is now among the country’s smallest towns. It ranks third among Bulgaria’s smallest towns. The population of this historically significant town is currently estimated at 792. This illustrates the diversity in the size and population of Bulgarian towns, offering an interesting perspective on different parts of the country.
